PS33 Counselling Service for Psychotropic Substance Abusers

PS33 Counselling Service for Psychotropic Substance Abusers

Introduction

“PS” stands for Psychotropic Substances which refer to hallucinogens, depressants, stimulants, tranquillizers, cough medicine and organic solvents, etc. and “33” stands for 33, Granville Road, Tsimshatsui, Kowloon which is the location of our headquarters.

The rapid increase in the number of psychotropic substance abusers had attracted much public attention in mid-80s. PS33 was for this reason established in March 1988, which became the first centre that provides non-residential detoxification and counselling services for psychotropic substance abusers. We have started to provide anti-drug programmes and workshops for the schools in Kowloon West District since 2002. In 2010, PS33 was re-structured and divided into PS33 - Tsimshatsui Centre and PS33 - Shamshuipo Centre.
