PS33 - Tsimshatsui Centre

Introduction

The rapid increase in the number of psychotropic substance abusers had attracted much public attention in mid-80s. PS33 was for this reason established in March 1988, which became the first centre that provides non-residential detoxification and counselling services for psychotropic substance abusers. We have started to provide anti-drug programmes and workshops for the school which in Kowloon West District since 2002.In 2010, PS33 was re-structured and divided into PS33 - Tsimshatsui Centre and PS33 - Shamshuipo Centre.

Objectives

  • To provide drug counselling to psychotropic substance abusers.
  • To provide supportive service to family members of psychotropic substance abusers.
  • To provide preventive education programmes to secondary school students in Kowloon City and Yau Tsim Mong District and people in need.
  • To provide professional trainings, case consultation and case assessment for allied professionals and community members who concern drug issues.
  • To provide enquiry service for the general public.

Service Contents

Treatment and Rehabilitation Service
  • Rehabilitative services for psychotropic substance abusers are comprised of assessment service, medical consultation and body checkups, matching of mode of detoxification, relapse prevention, individual and group counselling services to help them to resume normal functioning.
  • Counselling services and supportive programmes for family members of the psychotropic substance abusers.
Healthy School- Preventive Education Programmes

PS33 - Tsimshatsui Centre provides secondary schools in Kowloon City and Yau Tsim Mong District with various anti-drug programmes including talks, lunchtime activities and groups. We also offer educational talks and training workshops to parents and teachers. Besides, we provide free lending service of portable exhibition boards promoting healthy lifestyles and harmful effects of drugs for schools or other related social service groups.

  • Psychotropic substance abusers and their family members.

  • Social workers, teachers, parents, other interested parties and the general public.

Service Application

Walk-in or call the hotline to contact our social workers for enquiry and make application. We also accept referrals by the other parties and social service units.

Service Termination

Service users can discuss with the responsible social workers about the services termination.
