Mama Deli

Date: 01/10/2021

The Programme is ended on 1 October 2021.

Introduction

Funded by the “Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund” (SIE Fund), the project "Mama Deli" launched on September 2019. In view of the high unemployment rate of women from multicultural background and few suppliers of Halal meals for students from multicultural background in Hong Kong, the project recruits South Asian women as part time chefs to produce Halal meals in a licensed kitchen for students so as to increase their income and self-confidence by offering them job opportunities and unleashing their cooking talents. The project will utilise the kitchen during non-peak hours for food production and apply for Halal certification. At the same time, South Asian students can have a healthy and culturally appropriate choice of lunch.
