Since 1952, Hong Kong Christian Service (HKCS) has been working towards a humane and just society in Hong Kong. We provide services through more than 100 service units/projects located across the territory with an annual attendance of nearly 3 million. Our service targets include infant, child, youth, elderly, family, employee, child with physical disabilities, ethnic minority and other deprived groups. HKCS strives to provide suitable services to echo the needs of the disadvantaged and the neglected. From the early years of pioneering in services such as launching a special school, foster care service, elderly hostels at public housing estates, a vocational training school, school social work service, centres for psychotropic substance abusers and employee development service to the year 2000 of spearheading counselling services for hidden youth and adults, ethnic minority service and the Caring School Award Scheme, HKCS has been playing a pioneer role in responding proactively to the social needs in time. About 22% of HKCS's annual general expenses are not subvented by the Government. Therefore, public support is vital to maintain and develop services at HKCS.
