Introduction

The "Scheme on Living Allowance for Carers of Elderly Persons from Low-income Families" is implemented by the Social Welfare Department. Four of our elderly centers have become service units for this scheme since October 2023.

Objectives

The scheme aims at providing living allowance to carers of elderly from low-income families to supplement their living expenses so that elderly persons with long-term care needs to receive more appropriate care and continue to remain ageing in the community.

Service Target

Service Contents

  • To provide support and counseling services to carers, and refer them to appropriate community support services as needed.
  • To provide training courses for carers to improve their care capabilities.
  • To provide the Social Welfare Department carer allowance to eligible carers based on the number of monthly care hours.
