To foster diversity and inclusion in the community, our Shamshuipo Coordinating Committee (the Committee) published the 'Survey on Social Harmony in Shamshuipo District' in 2021 and actively followed up on the recommendation of 'Improving Healthcare, Cultural and Entertainment Facilities with the Concept of Inclusion'. The Committee initiated the 'Survey on Parent-Child Reading Corner in Shamshuipo Public Library' to collect the opinions of over 300 children and parents on the existing facilities and design of the library, conveying their views to the District Facilities and Community Affairs Committee of the Shamshuipo District Council. We also arranged meetings with the Senior Librarian (Shamshuipo District) of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and District Councillors to interact directly with children and parents. Many of their opinions on the ‘Parent-Child Reading Corner' have been incorporated into the Shamshuipo Public Library, which commenced operation in early 2023. The Committee also arranged a visit to the library for families to witness the birth of a cultural facility incorporating the concept of inclusion.
Children shared the design concept of the Parent-Child Reading Corner.
